Cultural organizations such as museums, theatres, and festivals are increasingly facing pressure to transform their management and governance structures due to volatile funding, digital technologies, and changing expectations of accountability. These organizations serve important public missions by producing and safeguarding cultural value, yet must now navigate new collaborative models, hybrid work arrangements, and AI-driven innovation while sustaining their societal role.
This special issue invites research exploring how cultural organizations can maintain their public commitment while adapting to organizational, sustainability, and technological transitions. Contributions should examine how managerial practices, governance frameworks, and organizational structures interact with public policy to help cultural institutions navigate these complex changes.
