This special issue challenges the predominant narrative in scholarship on women entrepreneurs facing crises, which typically emphasizes their vulnerabilities and capacity to endure hardship. Instead, the call invites research that positions women entrepreneurs as active agents driving meaningful change across individual, familial, community, regional, national, and global levels.

The special issue seeks contributions examining both the positive and negative dimensions of entrepreneurship during crises, spanning the crisis period itself as well as pre- and post-crisis contexts. It aims to advance understanding of how gender intersects with entrepreneurship and crisis experiences, filling gaps in existing theory, empirical knowledge, and policy recommendations.
