Supply chains face mounting pressures from climate change, geopolitical tensions, and pandemic risks, while stakeholders demand greater sustainability. Digital technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain offer solutions for enhancing visibility and improving environmental and social outcomes.

The integration of digital innovation with sustainability and resilience strategies enables supply chains to reduce systemic risks while strengthening their ability to recover from disruptions. However, significant gaps remain in understanding how these technologies influence ESG performance and interact with contextual factors.

This special issue seeks high-quality contributions exploring how digital and emerging technologies enable or constrain sustainable, resilient, and regenerative supply chain strategies, offering theoretical insights and practical implications for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.

Emerging technologies promise operational improvements, but their scaling often generates complex trade-offs that become more acute across organisational boundaries and levels. The special issue addresses operational tensions—persistent conflicts between competing demands such as centralisation versus decentralisation, efficiency versus flexibility, and autonomy versus control—that emerge when technologies reconfigure processes, resource allocation and governance. These tensions extend beyond individual implementations to affect supply networks, infrastructure systems and institutional contexts, with implications for resilience, governance and sustainability.

The call invites research examining how organisations navigate these tensions at three levels: within organisations, across supply networks and platforms, and at system-wide scales involving regulation, cybersecurity and resource constraints. Particular interest lies in contexts facing disruption or resource scarcity, such as healthcare and humanitarian operations, where technology adoption may enhance visibility and coordination yet intensify tensions around resource allocation and inter-organisational accountability.

Entrepreneurship education must adapt to rapid technological change, as emerging innovations like AI, blockchain, and immersive platforms are fundamentally transforming how entrepreneurs identify opportunities, develop prototypes, and scale businesses. While these technologies offer unprecedented pedagogical potential through simulations and gamified learning, many educational programs continue using traditional, Western-centric approaches that prioritize information delivery over experiential learning.

This special issue addresses the urgent need to critically examine how entrepreneurship education can effectively integrate emerging technologies while remaining responsive to the entrepreneurial realities students will face. The issue is particularly relevant for emerging economies, where digital tools can overcome infrastructure limitations and resource constraints to democratize access to quality entrepreneurship education, though success requires institutional capacity building, thoughtful curriculum design, and supporting policies.

This special issue addresses the challenge of developing new theoretical frameworks to explain unprecedented digital phenomena reshaping organizations and society. The call emphasizes the need for native IS theories that combine new concepts with existing theoretical foundations to explain the "why" behind digital phenomena, moving beyond descriptive accounts to deeper theoretical understanding.

The issue welcomes both articles that critically engage with existing theories to demonstrate their limitations in explaining contemporary digital phenomena, and articles proposing novel native IS theories grounded in the IS discourse. Theories should contain logically interconnected propositions and address specific "why" questions about emerging phenomena like surveillance capitalism, artificial intelligence, social media impacts, and other disruptions requiring explanation.
