This special issue focuses on Behavioural Environmental Economics & Policy (BEEP), which examines how departures from rational choice assumptions—such as bounded rationality and bounded willpower—affect environmental decision-making and policy effectiveness. The issue seeks to consolidate evidence on how behavioural insights can improve the design and evaluation of environmental policies to address urgent challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

The special issue welcomes conceptual, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions applying behavioural insights to environmental problems. Submissions may employ various methodologies including experiments, quasi-experimental designs, and literature reviews. The issue particularly values work that identifies both market and behavioural failures, designs and tests policies combining traditional instruments with behavioural tools, and evaluates their effectiveness and welfare impacts.

This is an invitation-only special issue in Environmental and Resource Economics.

This special issue focuses on market-based measures and economic instruments designed to mitigate emissions from ports and the shipping industry. The collection seeks to advance understanding of how market mechanisms can effectively reduce environmental impacts while maintaining economic competitiveness in the maritime sector.

The issue welcomes contributions exploring various market-based approaches including carbon pricing, emission trading systems, green bonds, subsidies for clean technologies, and other economic instruments. Papers may examine these mechanisms from theoretical, empirical, or policy perspectives, with particular interest in their effectiveness, design, implementation challenges, and real-world outcomes.
