    <p>The Western Balkans present a distinctive context for studying gender and work, combining labour-market gender gaps, high female inactivity, and informality with legacies of conflict and complex state-society relations. Women have played crucial roles in post-conflict recovery and civil society development, but existing global organizational theories inadequately capture these experiences and contributions.</p>
    
    <p>This special issue seeks rigorous, comparative research that documents contemporary gendered labour dynamics in the region, theorizes how regional specificities—such as post-socialist transition, conflict legacies, and EU integration pressures—shape organizational practices and careers, and develops conceptual contributions relevant to global gender and organization scholarship. The issue particularly welcomes papers evaluating policy effectiveness and linking local practices to international regimes.</p>
